Bob Volke - Retrospective
January 03, 2023
Portland Oregon – Steel Door Gallery and Shaffer Fine Art will present “Volke: A Retrospective” on
Saturday January 21st from 6pm-9pm.
Featured Artist: Bob Volke (1958 - 2016)
Show Run Dates: January 21st – February 4th 2017
Curators Patrick Zahn and Gail Shaffer are proud to present “Volke: A Retrospective”. The show will
feature a large collection of paintings by artist Bob Volke, who passed away in 2016 due to heart
complications.
Volke's journey from truck driver to artist began in 2003 when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
He started the art therapy program at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare as a way to manage his illness.
With Volke's paintings in private and corporate collections around the world, this is the first opportunity to see and purchase Volke's work since his untimely passing in April of 2016.
Volke's love of acrylics shows in both his unorthodox subject matter and techniques - using brushes
and a fork to apply sharp dense shades of color onto canvas.
The attraction of Volke's paintings ranges from the simplicity in his use of color to the complex subjectmatter drawn from his struggles with schizophrenia.
Please Join Steel Door Gallery, Shaffer Fine Art, and the Volke family as we celebrate the life of this
amazing artist.
Fifty Percent of proceeds will benefit the Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare.

Adrienne Wannamaker
January 01, 2020
Adrienne And Her Work:
Emerging artist Adrienne Wannamaker will have her first solo show July 9th. Adrienne's work combines several acrylic mediums and textures, in a variety of styles, on panel. Her abstract work ranges from a warm industrial mimimalist feel to shiny colorful textures. Additionally, her landscapes are constructed in an intuitive manner; in the tradition of modern impressionism, yet their reflective qualities are unique in the way they capture light and move across the work.
Words From The Artist:
I was born, raised and currently reside in Oregon. My studies include art and design. I am professionally trained in applying architectural finishes. My passion is for improving the aesthetic environments we live in, I feel if you love your surroundings you are more productive and happy in life. I utilize innovative methods working with acrylics on wood panel, allowing for a much stronger interaction between colors, textures, and layers. I am intrigued by the interaction of industrial finishes and organic shapes. It is the point where man made materials meet the earth. I love the freedom space gives me when working on larger scale pieces. My art works well in both residential and commercial spaces. I hope you enjoy my show.
Exhibition Schedule:
Opening Reception: Saturday July 9th 2pm to 6pm
Come meet the artist. Live music by the The Jane Lewis Band
